Her primary focus lies in the “open innovation ecosystem”, spanning all phases from policy-making to front-end strategy development, and day-to-day operations such as network building and specific business development. She navigates the ever-changing evolutionary characteristics of the innovation process, covering regions from Japan to nations in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Additionally, Chie is involved in co-creative human resource development and has developed working tools to effectively widen understanding towards social co-creation. Her objective is to contribute to innovation process management for business and society, along with human resource development for innovation.
ABOUT CHIE
Prof. Chie Sato has been working as a consultant in global business/project development, with a specific focus on co-creative innovation. In this role, she engages all corners of society, including business, government, the academic sector, and the community. Throughout her career, Chie served as a technology-management professional for large Japanese and US companies, as well as several SMEs. She went on to establish her own consulting firm, Biztech Inc, collaborating extensively with stakeholders from business, academia, and the public sector.
The primary emphasis of her work lies in the 'open innovation eco-system', spanning from policy-making to front-end strategy development, and day-to-day operations such as network building and specific business development. Her work navigates the ever-changing evolutionary characteristics of the innovation process, covering diverse regions from Japan to nations in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Chie has also contributed to co-creative human resource development at higher education institutions, including Shizuoka University, The University of Tokyo, and Nihon University. Additionally, she has extended her expertise to international professionals promoting co-creation in their regions/nations. She has developed working tools to effectively broaden understanding towards social co-creation and has published several academic papers on innovation process management for business and society, along with human resource development for innovation. From June 2023, Chie assumed a research position as a visiting professor at the Institute for Multidisciplinary Science of Yokohama National University, focusing on research for sustainable and resilient society building globally.
Chie holds an MSc in structural engineering from Waseda University. Within PPC, she has been associated as the course instructor since 2021. She also serves as the Honorary Advisor on Global Innovation Strategy in the Board of Innovators at Proeducation Consulting.
